0 Bargersville, IN Bargersville, IN Full-time Full-time $20 - $26 an hour $20 - $26 an hour 3 days ago 3 days ago 3 days ago Job Summary The Parks & Recreation Coordinator is responsible for performing park and facility maintenance and repair, assisting with landscape projects on Town properties, and assisting with in-house construction, maintenance, and repair of all the Park and Recreation buildings, facilities, and equipment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Oversees the maintenance and operations for all parks and facilities Coordinates the day-to-day operations and maintenance of all parks, facilities, and trails to include:
overseeing or participating in mowing grass, cleaning restrooms, pavilions and keeping all parks clean of debris.
Prescribes and follows routine maintenance plans for facilities, amenities, parks and trails Performs basic custodial functions for facilities, amenities, parks and trails including setup and cleaning for daily activities and events Ensure that all aspects of the parks, facilities and trails operate in a clean and safe manner by conducting routine safety inspections.
Perform park and recreation maintenance operations for the Department.
This includes, but not limited to:
o Turf Maintenance:
mowing, irrigation, fertilizing, seeding, weed control, and removal of garbage and refuse materials o Recreation Facility Maintenance:
basketball courts, pickleball courts, shall be maintained to a high level of excellence.
Install and maintain necessary apparatus according to programmed use, such as installing, moving and anchoring posts and nets o Landscape Maintenance:
soil grading and preparation, tree plantings, tree trimming, tree spraying, tree watering, applying mulch to tree rings and planting beds, weeding, and flower bed planting and maintenance o Construction:
installation of park/playground equipment, park benches, park signage o Winter Maintenance:
snow removal from parking lots, sidewalks, and trails Inspect parks, playgrounds, and facilities for hazards and unsafe conditions and make necessary repairs or modifications, and document such repairs.
Maintains a variety of records relating to repairs, replacements and maintenance activities.
Serves as the on-call emergency contact for parks and facility related maintenance needs.
Works closely with the Director of Parks and Recreation to develop short and long term planning goals and capital improvement recommendations.
Assists in the hiring and supervision of part-time and seasonal maintenance staff.
Assist in supervising part-time and seasonal maintenance employees in accordance with the Town's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees, assigning and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Coordinate and communicate with third-party contractors as needed.
Develop and implement maintenance procedures to effectively manage daily operations.
Assist with special event setup-up, operation and clean-up as required.
Assists in other facilities in similar roles as available.
Participate in Parks and Recreation training, seminars, conferences and other programs.

In addition, the prerequisites listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Knowledge of park maintenance and landscaping, grounds keeping.
Working knowledge of park and recreation operations and maintenance (landscaping, turf management, irrigation, event and facility management, etc.
) General knowledge and experience in the principles and practice of facility maintenance (carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
) General knowledge of special event implementation to include setup/teardown and safety precautions.
Ability to use and learn several types of technology to include irrigation systems and scheduling software for parks and facilities is required.
Must be able to work independently within assigned areas of responsibility.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills Ability to read, analyze, interpret and prepare reports, business correspondence, procedures, and standard operating procedures with minimal supervision Must be able to drive a personal or Town-owned vehicle, possess a valid Indiana operator's license, and carry insurance or be insurable to the minimum extent required by the Town (and/or recommended by the Town's insurance carrier(s) Education and/or Experience High School Graduate or GED and minimum one year experience in field related to Park and Recreation maintenance Certified Pool Operators (CPO) Certification preferred; must be obtained within 3 months of employment.
Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) Certification preferred; must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
