POSITION SUMMARY:


This position ministers to all patients, families and staff, regardless of their personal faith tradition, by providing appropriate spiritual services, i.e., listening, pastoral counseling, ethical consultation and prayer.¬  The chaplain participates in educational programs and acts as a resource for physicians, staff, volunteers and the larger faith community.¬  The Chaplain participates in organizational committees related to the Chaplains area of AHAH.¬  Through personal presence, pastoral ministry and in-service education, the chaplain helps to promote and maintain a Christian atmosphere of quality patient-centered care.¬  In the absence of a Chaplain II, the Chaplain may assume a leadership position coordinating other Chaplains and Chaplain Associates.¬

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES



  • Provide effective spiritual care as part of an interdisciplinary team that contributes to the well-being of staff, patients/clients, and their families.

  • Document a spiritual assessment, intervention and plan of care.

  • Provide leadership and education that shapes and supports the culture of spirituality, mission and values of Ministry Home Care.

  • Advocate for patients and families within their organization.

  • Create and facilitate rituals for individuals/groups and organizational needs.

  • Participate in general, patient caregiver and physician orientation.

  • Collaborate with area clergy to honor the requests of patients and families.

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

  • Adherence to and compliance with information systems security is everyone‚€™s responsibility. It is the responsibility of every computer user to: Know and follow Information Systems security policies and procedures. Attend Information Systems security training, when offered.¬  Report information systems security problems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensing/Certification:



  • Master‚€™s Degree in theological, ministerial or related field from an accredited college or university.¬  A minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education is required.

  • Endorsement by Professional Chaplain Organization and/or Denominational Representative.

  • Current driver‚€™s license, use of a car and proof of auto insurance.

    Experience:


  • One (1) to three (3) years of chaplaincy or related experience.

Knowledge and Skills:



  • Ability to work as a team member, share responsibilities and lead prayer services.

  • Ability to communicate effectively using interpersonal and pastoral counseling skills.

  • Knowledge of and appreciation for the Christian witness inherent in the philosophy of Catholic healthcare.¬ 


Knowledge of ethical principles and ability to facilitate ethical discussions with patient/family/staff as appropriate.¬ 




Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
